Yes - but it is not recommended and you will lose some automated functionality.
TWP can be configured to use any SMTP server. However, It is recommended that you use the built in SMTP services that we provide for you instead of your own SMTP server. Our SMTP services are integrated into the product for tracking bounced emails and complaints. If you use your own SMTP server, the system will not get the feedback needed to automatically track these events and you will need to manually note them as needed.
Using the built-in SMTP services does NOT mean that you cannot send from your domain. This is a common misunderstanding. During the setup process we will work with you to authorize the site to send on behalf of an email address you provide. Your users will see emails with your domain name and you will get the advantage of using the automated bounce tracking.
