What does "Not Approved for Sending" mean

Modified on Tue, 5 Oct, 2021 at 9:32 AM

If you are sending an email and you receive a message as shown below, there are one or more reasons this can occur.

Attempt to generate email failed. TWP.Shared.EmailBlockedException: Email address (username@domain.com) is not approved for sending.

Reason 1: The email has previously bounced and is therefore on the DNE list. You can verify this by looking at the past history of the emails sent to that address or by looking at the DNE list.

Reason 2: The user has unsubscribed from a previous mass emailing and is therefore on the DNE list. You can verify this by looking at the Unsubscribe list or the DNE list.

Reason 3: The email address was scrubbed and determined to be an invalid email address.

If you are sure the email address is valid and it previously bounced, you can remove the email address from the DNE list and the system will allow you to send to the email address again. This should only be done if you are sure the email address is valid. If the email bounces again, it will be added to the DNE list automatically.

If you are sure the consumer unsubscribed but now wants to get emails, you can also remove the email address from the DNE list and the system will allow you to send to the email address again. This should only be done if the consumer has consented to receive emails after unsubscribing..
