What does "Not Approved for Sending" mean

Modified on Wed, Mar 26 at 11:56 AM

If you are sending an email and receive a message like the one below, there may be one or more reasons for this:

Attempt to generate email failed. TWP.Shared.EmailBlockedException: The email address (username@domain.com) is not approved for sending.

  1. The email has previously bounced and is therefore on the DNE (Do Not Email) list.  You can verify this by checking the past history of emails sent to that address or by consulting the DNE list.

  2. The user has unsubscribed from a previous mass email and is therefore on the DNE list. You can verify this by checking the Unsubscribe list or the DNE list.

  3. The email address was scrubbed and determined to be invalid.

If you are certain the email address is valid and it previously bounced, you can remove the email address from the DNE list, and the system will allow you to send to it again. This should only be done if you are confident the email address is valid. If the email bounces again, it will automatically be added to the DNE list.

If you are certain the consumer unsubscribed but now wants to receive emails, you can also remove the email address from the DNE list, and the system will allow you to send to it again. This should only be done if the consumer has consented to receive emails after unsubscribing.
